Les Ombres in Quai Branly

The fifth city of Round the World, Shichiken and Ducasse Paris’ tour to seven cities around the world, was Paris, France.

The event was held on November 2 at Les Ombres, a restaurant located on the roof of the Quai Branly Museum. Located along the Seine River, it offers spectacular views of the Parisian cityscape and the Eiffel Tower.

The following five drinks were prepared on that day, as at the first event.

-       Alain Ducasse Sparkling Sake
-       Sparkling Yama no Kasumi
-       Junmai Daiginjo Kinunoaji
-       Junmai Furinbisan
-       Alain Ducasse Sustainable Spirits

“We aimed for pairings where the food and sake complement each other and enrich the flavor,” said Executive Chef Alexandre Sampere.

“Some of the pairings take advantage of subtle contrasts, adding unexpected flavors to enhance the sensory experience.”

He worked with the entire service and kitchen teams to create a menu that respects Shichiken’s identity and complements its cuisine.

The guests were very pleased with the special one-night-only pairing experience.

“The vegetable agnolotti paired with the delicious lobster was especially popular. The contrasting harmony of the duck pairing was also appreciated.”

Sampere expressed his satisfaction that all the guests seemed to enjoy the sensory and cultural experience with Shichiken’s sake.

Ambassador Shimokawa, the Japanese Ambassador to France, and his wife who also attended the event, were thrilled with the experience.

“Sake is the art of fermentation. It holds a special place in fine restaurants in France and around the world and represents a traditional and refined technique.”

Sampere said he trusts sake as a drink that is as delicate as wine and complements a wide variety of dishes.

The one-night banquet, a marriage of authentic French cuisine and sake, came to a successful end.

The next stop was London, England.
