The seventh city of Round the World, Shichiken and Ducasse Paris’ tour to seven cities around the world, was New York, USA.

The event was held on November 8 at Benoit New York, which has a Parisian atmosphere and is a branch of Alain Ducasse’s long-established bistro, Benoit.

The following five drinks were prepared on that day, as at the first event.

-       Alain Ducasse Sparkling Sake
-       Sparkling Yama no Kasumi
-       Junmai Daiginjo Kinunoaji
-       Junmai Furinbisan
-       Alain Ducasse Sustainable Spirits

“I believe that sake should now be considered as important as wine,” said Executive Chef Alberto Marcolongo. Before coming to Benoit New York, he had been using sake as an excellent pairing.

On this occasion, he incorporated the fruity aroma and flavor unique to sake into his menu.

“For example, the Alain Ducasse Sparkling Sake has a very creamy texture and a fruity flavor reminiscent of blue melon. We paired it with a bright, clean, fruity dessert.”

With the Alain Ducasse Sustainable Spirits martinis, the team harmonized the texture and aroma of each sake with food that complemented it, such as emphasizing simplicity to enhance the freshness of the fish dish and maintain a refined elegance.

The Ambassador and Consul General of Japan in New York, Mikio Mori, and his wife attended the event, along with many other guests.

“The guests seemed especially surprised by the sparkling sake and spirits, which are fresh and also expand their culinary enjoyment.”

Marcolongo was pleased that his guests found the same pleasure in sake as he did.

The journey through seven restaurants, starting in Tokyo and traveling through Bangkok, Naples, Monaco, Paris, London, and New York to find a new future for sake and its creative possibilities has now come to an end.

The journey of collaboration with Ducasse Paris and taking sake to places where it has never been before has only just begun.
