Expressing the vision of artists

“Art is for everybody,” said Keith Haring, who dominated the New York art scene in the 1980s. He expressed his wish to break down established norms through his artworks which still capture people’s hearts today.
Yamanashi Prefecture’s Hokuto City, where Shichiken is brewed, is home to the Nakamura Keith Haring Art Gallery, the world’s only art gallery exhibiting Keith Haring’s work under one roof.
Shichiken’s master brewer, Ryogo Kitahara, grew up amid Keith Haring’s art and the nature of Yatsugatake. As an artist in sake brewing, Ryogo Kitahara expresses his visions in Shichiken’s sake just like Keith Haring did in his paintings.

A fresh, new type of sake with very old roots

After generations of brewing Shichiken in pursuit of creating fine sake, the answer to the master brewer’s quest to create a new expression and flavor was found in storage: a treasure trove of Daiginjo sake carefully matured by three generations of the family. This timeless sake is transformed by something never attempted by their ancestors – a second fermentation in the bottle.
Launched in 2018, EXPRESSION is a new sparkling entry in the Shichiken collection. It is an unparalleled combination of complexity and clean finish achieved by blending the depth and elegant maturity of aged Daiginjo sake with the vibrant texture of bubbles. Every year, striving to scale greater heights, a new entry is added to the series. Now in the third year since the project’s inception, the 2020 sparkling sake has achieved the highest quality and finest expression thus far.
